Speedbump!

So, just as I was poised to go forth and conquer my fall sewing projects, I hit a surprising speedbump. Well, actually I didn’t hit anything, but I did fall. Hard. Off my bike while traveling quickly down a steep hill. After spending most of Monday in the ER, I emerged with a diagnosis of a bunch of scrapes and a (very minor) broken wrist. So. No bike for a while, and sewing, while still possible, will be a lot slower. I think I’m going to stick with some simpler things (I can barely put on pants, how could I make them?), and take it slow. At least I still have some things that I made this summer that I still need to share, and I can still (mostly) type…

I did manage to cut out most of a knit dress yesterday, so we’ll see how that proceeds. Ah, life. It happens!

Poor you! I broke my elbow falling off my bike a few years back. Thankfully, no cast was needed. I’m sorry to see your wrist needed one though. Hopefully the forced slow down will mean you bounce back with even more energy and enthusiasm. Heal quickly!

Ah! Sad. I really like the color of your cast, though! ha. Feel better soon.

Hoping you’ll mend soon. At least your sewing should cheer you up and speed up the healing process.

Ouchies! Bike crashes can be nasty. My husband broke ribs last year, his friend a collarbone and the other was severely concussed – he could not recall his wife was furious with him for inviting the whole Under 8’s soccer team over for the afternoon and then gone out for a bike ride. At this point the boys realized he was seriously injured and needed to be hospitalized urgently LOL
    Heal quickly ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Oh no! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Bet writing this post was even a bit difficult. Hope you heal quickly! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Ohh ouch! I hope you are right handed ๐Ÿ˜‰

My hubby did his wrist off his bike several years ago, the scaifoid (sp?) is a hard bone to heel and he now had a weather barometer for a wrist ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope you can heel up fast and get back to full-speed sewing asap xx

So sorry! My husband did the exact same hairline wrist fracture while we were roller blading! I’m amazed that you’re still working on your craft so soon after! What dedication to your passion! That’s truly an inspiration to us all! Get we’ll soon!

  11. Eeeek, hope it is better soon. definitely a sewing speedbump. But you can spend time getting patterns/fabric organized and lined up for a sewing marathon when the cast comes off.
